      For Who: The Huakaʻi is not for anyone. It is for those who are seeking a deeper relationship with the ʻĀina (land) of Molokai, through Hula, Ceremony, and Protocol. 

      Keep in mind the Huakaʻi is meant to get deeper into the teachings through your participation, preparations, and understanding of how things work.

    ABOUT THE TEACHERS


    Your host and head teacher at Molokai Huakaʻi is Kumu Paʻa Nui Lawrence Kalainia Kamani Aki. 

    Kumu Paʻa means Teacher of Foundation, a title given to him by his teacher of 50+ years, Kumu Hula ʻAnakala (Uncle) Pilipo Solatorio.

    He is a “Ka ipu o ka ʻike Hawaiʻi”, a container of Hawaiian cultural knowledge from a lineage of 50 generations of teachers on Molokai. 

    Being a specialist in Hawaiian Spirituality & Hoʻoponopono, he moves by intuition and also knows, when invited, how to push your button and give you the option of moving forward. 


    Kumu Paʻa Kyrian van Vliet co-hosts the Molokai Huakaʻi with Kumu Paʻa Nui Lawrence, her husband of 10 years. She loves Hula, oli (Hawaiian Chants), and the Hawaiian language.

    You will hear her sharing the moʻolelo (stories) with great respect for the wahi pana (sacred places) of her newfound home on Molokai.
